The vibrant city of Vilnius hosted the fifth annual corgi race, an event that has rapidly become a highlight for enthusiasts across the globe, including those in the Toronto Metro region. Featuring 150 corgi participants from nine countries—among them the United States, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Estonia, Germany, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, and Britain—the corgi race stands as an emblem of joyful competition and enduring breed heritage.

This year’s international corgi race delivered memorable moments, with the American corgi Gustave the Girl Dog (GG) sprinting to victory. Hot on her heels was Mr. Corgington, also representing the U.S., followed closely by Lithuania’s accomplished two-time champion, Moka. These corgi race winners were celebrated for their impressive speed and determination, with supporters from all over, including from Toronto Metro, cheering them on.

Corgi Costume Contest Adds Flair and Fun

The creative spirit of the participants shone brightly during the corgi costume contest. Out of 38 competing dogs decked out in costumes ranging from playful dinosaur suits to medieval knight armor, Amigo carried away the first prize. Not only did this contest offer amusement for the crowd, but it also allowed corgi participants and their owners to express individuality and a touch of humor.

Beyond speed and apparel, intelligence and vocal talents were tested in the event’s much-anticipated skill challenges. In the smartest nose challenge, Latvian corgis Tora and Rusty demonstrated their highly developed sense of smell and ability to follow scent trails, scoring top honors. Meanwhile, Mr. Corgington once again made an impression by triumphing in the loudest bark contest, echoing through Vilnius and thrilling supporters from various countries.
